The challenges of creating unique gifts

There are certainly challenges involved in securing a high quality photograph of every single dawn come rain or shine.

Each season brings it's own challenges and joys associated with creating these unique gifts.

The summer months bring beautiful calm and warm mornings, but around midsummer, this means a very early start at around 3.30am.

In winter the team get a lie in, but the weather conditions can be difficult, with the early morning rain and wind coming straight off the Atlantic.

Still, the team feel privileged to witness something that most of us miss as we remain tucked up in our beds. There is such a serenity to be seen and felt at daybreak and they often think how lucky they are to be amongst the few people to be experiencing that special moment and capturing it for you.

The range of unique gifts includes photographs of practically every single day since the business was established in May 2005 as the photographers have risen to the challenges posed by the seasons and the Cornish weather.

Where are the unique gifts photographed?

All our photographs are taken around the stunning coastline of West Cornwall, an area famed for the special quality of its light and because of this, a magnet to renowned artists for many years.

We have a selection of well-loved spots where we set up our tripods. Exactly which we select each day depends on a number of factors... the tide, the swell, the weather and time of year. We keep a keen eye on tide timetables and early weather warnings and then armed with that information, head off for the location which we think will allow us to create the best personalised gifts for that day.

Unique gifts, come rain or shine

Regardless of the weather, we usually manage to achieve stunning photographs of dawn and the rising sun. This is by far the most common photograph in our range of unique gifts. On gorgeous sunny mornings we are lucky enough to get fantastic images of the sun rising over the horizon and reflecting on the sea and wet sands below.

On less clement days, the team may have to focus on other points within the landscape, perhaps the sea or cloud formations. Sometimes the cloud formations on these days are the most dramatic.

On the rarest of occasions, the photographer may have to make a decision to come back later in the day. If there is blanket fog or heavy sea mist, there really is nothing to capture. So they head back to the coastline later in the day after the fog or mist has cleared or on some very rare occasions will head back in the evening to capture a sunset instead.

We do all we can to make sure that our unique gifts are as stunning and distinctive as possible.
