It Took Twenty Years

My Wedding day - 15th December 2007

Dean and I met on December 15th 1987. During the twenty years we had been together we had shared many momentous occasions: moving in together, moving around together, having 3 gorgeous children (Jago, Ines and Leonor) and to the whole world we looked like a happily married couple ... except we weren't ... married that is. It was the one occasion we never seemed to get round to. So, I was floored when Dean proposed to me in August 2007 and said he wanted to get married to celebrate our 20 years together. We were living in the USA at the time, but there was never any doubt that we would marry in Cornwall. It is a place that is very special to us and it would be much easier for our friends and family back home in England to get to. We booked a small hotel in Cornwall and our guests joined us there and in local B&B's for a weekend of revelry. Our beautiful daughters were bridesmaids and our son, in a very grown up manner, gave a great speech - it was marvelous having the children involved and they look back at it as their wedding too. As to all our friends and family who have remained very dear to us over all those years we'd been together, they thought it was a hoot, they truly never believed we'd get round to it and were so up for a party to give justice to us finally doing so. Twenty years to the day we'd first met, we were at last Husband and Wife... and it was worth waiting for.
