Ella's first day - 9th May 2005

The day our beautiful Ella was born was the happiest day of my life. It was two hours before Ella arrived that my wonderful wife Lis was in a birthing pool going through very regular contractions and I was feeling awkward and inadequate but trying to do all I could to help her. At 2pm I was aware of a familiar tune wafting from the radio sitting on a shelf near the door. Lis, full of colour calmly leaned back, re focused, smiled at me and asked me to turn it up. For the next 15 minutes, Lis listened to her favorite radio program, reducing her contractions from one every 2 minutes to only having one small one while listening happily to the Archers.
